Job Description Mission Community Hospital, a 145-bed acute care facility located in the San Fernando Valley, is currently searching for an RN for Day/Night Shift in the Behavioral Unit. Job Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care in the behavioral/mental healthcare setting. The RN performs clinical and nursing functions within the scope of nursing practice and provides leadership and direction to licensed and non-licensed staff. The role primarily works with behaviorally/mentally ill adults through a geriatric patient population, including gestational females less than 20 weeks in term. Care is delivered in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional and developmental age of the individual served. The RN communicates with the Administrative Director, Manager, Charge RN, and co‑workers regarding changes in a patient’s clinical condition including vital signs, behavioral and physical symptomatology, and responds promptly to changes in patient status. The RN assists with activities of daily living (ADLs), provides nursing care, performs services requiring clinical, technical, and manual skills tailored to individual patient needs, and maintains a safe, clean environment. The RN ensures the rights of the patient and family are respected. The RN demonstrates the ability to safely and competently use equipment in the provision of department services per scope of practice. The RN demonstrates a high level of commitment to direct and indirect patient care, exhibits a sense of urgency, collaborates with physicians, directors, managers, and other staff, and maintains a can‑do attitude. The RN combines education and experience to formulate care processes and participates in quality and process improvement initiatives from planning through implementation and ongoing evaluation, including corrective action when required. Qualifications General Job Requirements, Certifications & Knowledge Current license with the California State Board of Nursing. Ability to read and communicate effectively (in‑person or via telephone/intercom) in English. Basic computer knowledge. Current BLS/CPR certification. FIRE Card – to be obtained within 60 days of employment. MABPRO MAB – to be obtained by completion of unit orientation. Advanced MABPRO certification – to be obtained by completion of unit orientation. Preferred BSN degree. Ability to speak additional language(s). Minimum of one year (full‑time status) adult behavioral health, acute care, long‑term or sub‑acute direct patient care experience within the last two years preferred. Minimum of one year (full‑time status) experience providing direct care, assessment, monitoring, and/or evaluation of individuals diagnosed with mental illness/disability or a medical condition. #J-18808-Ljbffr
