Production Supervisor - Nights

Job Summary Supervise and direct the production processes, optimizing machine efficiencies while ensuring quality products, minimum scrap, and low conversion costs. Provide oversight for direct reports and supporting workforce, ensuring they are adequately trained and performing essential functions. Communicate clear reporting to upper management while maintaining compliance with company policies, plant procedures, and ISO9001 and other regulatory requirements. Essential Functions Supervise support of all Company policies – Safety, ISO9001, company and plant procedures. Lead production safety initiatives and promote a safe work environment. Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements within the department. Execute operational checks and verifications timely and consistently. Write and conduct employee evaluations and corrective actions where needed. Ensure resin blends, production yield, and scrap rate meet or exceed goals. Enter data into appropriate systems to record shift performance. Monitor daily attendance and staffing requirements to meet schedules using Kronos. Troubleshoot areas of manufacturing and operations where safety, quality, or production are at risk. Maintain complete and correct working documents and paperwork. Maintain good housekeeping, safety, and manufacturing practices. Communicate policies and procedures with a positive attitude. Perform First Responder duties as needed. Report all aspects of production, including machine status, personnel status, new employee training, and promoted individuals. Conduct daily pre‑shift or other employee meetings and training as needed. Perform other duties deemed necessary by Management. Additional Front Line Leader Responsibilities Accountable for the safety of employees through active engagement in safety activities. Provide consistent communication of safe work expectations. Complete responsibilities in accordance with policies, procedures and applicable laws. Lead risk assessment activities; drive corrective and preventive actions. Lead all required meetings (Pre‑shift, Department, Town Hall, etc.). Complete incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions. Ensure proper training and development of all assigned employees. Set goals for the unit; achieve goals and ensure employees understand them. Motivate and coach employees through communication and performance feedback. Identify and coordinate additional training as needed. Education and Experience Associate’s degree or equivalent from a 2‑year college or technical school. Minimum of 5 years in manufacturing, including 3 years in a supervisory role. Skills and Abilities Organize and prioritize work activities; handle multiple projects simultaneously. Make practical decisions without extensive direction. Communicate ideas to groups or individuals. Proficiency with AS400, Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes. Use tools and measurement instruments. Develop information tracking systems. Understand business finances and manufacturing costs. Knowledge of extrusion process, blown film plastic process and associated equipment. Operate a forklift. Use computers, Kronos, AS400, PC. Support a 24/7 site. Communicate effectively with diverse cultural backgrounds. Read, analyze, and interpret regulations, technical procedures, and business documents. Write reports, correspondence and procedure manuals. Present information and respond to questions. Spreadsheets, Word and Access proficiency (Excel, Word, Access). Reasoning: define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions. Mathematical ability: calculate discounts, interest, commissions, etc.; basic algebra and geometry. Physical Demands Work may involve changing priorities and time pressures; may require work around moving machinery or electricity; requires safety awareness, use of hand tools and personal protective equipment; may lift up to 65 pounds unassisted. Work Environment Manufacturing environment with majority of time on the production floor; noise can be loud; climate may not be climate controlled; required hearing, eye, toe protection and additional PPE when working around moving machinery.
