The Industrial Supply Branch Manager plays a crucial role in managing the daily operations and profitability of the Industrial Supply branch in Juneau, Alaska. This position demands a proactive approach, integrating team leadership with responsibilities in inventory management, freight operations, technical product sales, and direct customer service across a wide array of industrial product lines. The Manager is tasked with enhancing the industrial supply experience for a varied clientele, which includes local hospitals, welding shops, marine, mining, and fabrication industries. Ensuring the store remains well-stocked, safe, efficient, and poised for growth is essential. Success in this role hinges on the ability to manage personnel effectively, utilize an ERP system, fabricate hydraulic hoses at the counter, unload freight, and provide direct customer support.

In terms of leadership and team management, the Manager will oversee a team of four, comprising one Assistant Manager and three Counter/Customer Service staff. Responsibilities include scheduling, coaching, performance management, and training to foster a high standard of customer service, product knowledge, safety, and store presentation. The Manager will also cultivate a workplace culture that aligns with the employee-owned (ESOP) values of accountability and ownership. Regarding inventory, purchasing, and ERP management, the Manager will order and oversee stock through the company’s ERP system (Point of Rental), ensuring optimal inventory levels while minimizing stock-outs and overstock situations. This includes creating and maintaining accurate part numbers, pricing, and vendor records, as well as managing freight orders, verifying counts, reconciling receipts, and addressing discrepancies with vendors and carriers.

The role also encompasses freight and logistics responsibilities, such as loading and unloading freight, including container and barge shipments typical in Southeast Alaska. The Manager will coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, delivery scheduling, and freight documentation. Additionally, the position involves managing product lines, sales, and fabrication, particularly concerning compressed and industrial gases, which includes ordering, managing, and delivering gases to local hospitals and various welding and industrial shops. 

Requirements:

• Proven experience in industrial supply, distribution, equipment, or a related trade / operations environment.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience managing a team.
• Proficiency with ERP or inventory management systems and standard business software.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform hands-on work, including hydraulic hose fabrication and freight handling.
• Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a forklift and delivery vehicles (certification provided or supported).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and work in a physically active warehouse and counter environment.
• Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with compressed / industrial gas handling and DOT hazardous materials requirements.
• Familiarity with hydraulic hose assembly (Parker or equivalent), metals, or fabrication supply.
• Knowledge of Southeast Alaska freight, barge logistics, and the local trades / marine / mining customer base.
• Experience in a P&L or branch-level accountability role.
