Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Posting

12-hour shifts, 6:00am-6:30pm, full time (36-40 hours per week). Candidates will work 36 hours the first week and 40 hours the next week on a rotating schedule. Note that 40 hours is not guaranteed every week.

Responsibilities

• Administer medication and perform treatments as ordered by the physician and within the scope of license.
• Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments.
• Ensure an adequate amount of supplies and medication are available.
• Receive and deliver information regarding residents' medical, social, functional, and other needs.
• Participate in shift reports and communicate effectively with residents, family, and staff.
• Complete the initial admission nursing assessment tool for newly admitted residents.
• Assist with the development of assessments, ongoing reviews, and care plans.
• Maintain appropriate clinical and administrative documentation.
• Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement programs.

Knowledge and Skills

• Understanding of gerontological/geriatric nursing theory and practice.
• Knowledge of the effects of the aging process.
• Familiarity with team nursing practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of pharmacology and medicines.
• Understanding of laws, rules, and regulations governing nursing practices.
• Skills in observing and reporting resident behavior and progress.
• Ability to assist in the development and implementation of patient care plans.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
