Solution Architect

Job DescriptionWe're looking for a Solution Architect who is excited to guide the technical direction of key product platforms across K12. Whether you're already working as a Solution Architect or you've been a senior engineer or engineering lead making high-level design decisions, this role gives you the opportunity to influence architecture at scale and collaborate across the organization. We're looking for strong architectural thinkers, regardless of title.You'll partner with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to design secure, scalable, maintainable solutions that support our long term technology strategy. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex challenges, facilitating consensus, and setting architectural standards that help teams deliver their best work.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.Drive Architecture Across PlatformsContribute to the overall K12 architecture vision and strategyParticipate in the Architecture Council—present designs, review proposals, and help shape shared standardsCollaborate with peers across platforms to evaluate and recommend architectural approachesOwn the technical direction for your platformWork with business stakeholders to understand functional needs, constraints, and objectivesDefine an architectural vision that prioritizes security, performance, reliability, DevOps, monitoring, and long-term maintainabilityIdentify, prioritize, and address technical debtSupport estimation, planning, and business-case evaluation for major initiativesSupport and guide engineering teamsPartner with Product, UX, and engineering to break large initiatives into thoughtfully sequenced roadmapsProvide ongoing architectural guidance during development to keep implementation aligned with strategyDocument architecture decisions, patterns, and strategyEnsure engineering teams understand how your platform integrates with the larger K12 ecosystemEncourage innovation through prototypes and exploration of new technologiesSupervisory Responsibilities: This position initially has no formal supervisory responsibilities.Certificates and Licenses: None required.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent experience8+ years of software engineering experience, including influence over multi-system architecture3+ years building solutions on AWSHands-on experience with multiple coding languages, UI frameworks and Database technologiesFamiliarity with modern web technologies and open-source frameworksStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex trade-offsExperience with large-scale, high-availability systemsStrong communication skills and the ability to lead through influenceUnderstanding of application, integration, SOA, and distributed architecture patternsAbility to create and maintain technical documentationBackground check clearance and up to 5% travelDesired QualificationsExperience building SaaS productsExperience addressing cross-browser challengesWork EnvironmentThis position is virtual and open to residents of the 50 states and Washington, D.C.Compensation & BenefitsStride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.We anticipate the salary range to be $81,045.75-$156,000.00. An individual's compensation can vary based on several factors which include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus.
