Advanced Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Pain Clinic

Join a dedicated healthcare team in a regional medical facility serving the heart of the Midwest. This full-time, day-shift Medical Assistant role supports patient care within a pain clinic setting, working closely with licensed nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers.

General Summary: The Medical Assistant provides essential clinical support by performing delegated tasks such as obtaining vital signs, assisting with medication administration, and managing patient documentation. This role requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, excellent customer service, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling.
• Escort patients, collect vital signs, perform EKGs, verify medications and allergies, and document patient histories accurately.
• Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, managing phone communications and follow-up calls regarding test results.
• Assist with medication renewals, authorizations, and administer oral, IM, and SQ medications as ordered.
• Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Schedule appointments, diagnostic procedures, and surgeries as directed by providers.
• Complete necessary paperwork including prior authorizations and referrals promptly.
• Maintain supply inventory and ensure exam areas are clean and well-stocked.
• Educate patients on electronic health record access and assist with enrollment.
• Support orientation and training of new medical assistants.
• Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, adaptability, and maintain excellent attendance.

Education: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program or equivalent experience. High school diploma required.

Experience: One year of experience as a Medical Assistant or related medical specialist preferred. Experience in a clinical setting is advantageous.

Certification/License: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Requires considerable mental focus, ability to lift up to 35 lbs, and perform physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with challenging individuals. Minimal physical discomfort expected.
