Essential Functions Statement(s)

- Reads and interprets blueprints and machine drawings to determine specific welding requirements.

- Sets up welding machines to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as specified by the specific job.

- Recognizes, sets-up, selects torch, torch tip and filler wire per welding chart specifications or type and thickness of material. Operates hand and power tools common to welding.

- Positions and clamps workpieces together or assemble in jigs or fixtures.

- Tacks assemblies together as required.

- Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line, includes welding components to flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. Maintain length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of the metal, sound of the weld and size of the molten puddle.

- Capable of welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.

- Visually examines weld for bead size and other specifications.

- Chips off excessive weld, slag, and splatter

- Cleans and degreases workpieces as required. Performs all necessary scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on all welding/process related equipment. Troubleshoot minor problems with equipment.

- Move components in and completed weldments out of the welding area.

- Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Competency Statement(s)

- Knowledge of and experience working with metals, the associated tools utilized in the manufacturing process, basic quality control expectations, associated costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of the products produced.

- The ability to identify and measure material using appropriate measuring devices.

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.

- Demonstrated skill and proficiency with MIG welding process.

- Experience with or ability to learn robotic welding methodologies.

- Perform grinding and deburring operations when necessary, utilizing appropriate tools.

- Ability to listen and communicate clearly, fluently, and diplomatically orally and in writing in the English language; also, to maintain excellent interpersonal and cooperative relationships with management and staff.

- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and accurately follow through on work activities with time constraints and interruptions to meet deadlines as well as to work independently with a minimum amount of direction and/or supervision.

- Ability to remain flexible, resilient, calm, maintain a sense of humor and to regularly present a well-groomed, professional image.

- Ability to work effectively and respectively with staff, managers, executives, and others with a variety of working styles to achieve accountability and results and maintain service excellence.

- Ability to meet the physical and mental requirements of the essential job functions.

- Regular, consistent, punctual attendance is an essential function of this position.
