Job Summary:
The Neuro Medical Surgical Acute (Neuro MedSurg Acute) Registered Nurse (RN) position is based in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized care for patients with neurological conditions including stroke, spine surgery, seizure disorders, brain tumors, and head injuries. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment. The position emphasizes experience in a dedicated neuro unit, trauma experience, and prior travel experience.

Job Details:

• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Specialty: Medical Surgical With Telemetry (MS TELE)
• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week
• Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Required qualifications: Illinois active license or confirmation of application initiation, at least 1 year of relevant experience, level 1 trauma experience, previous travel experience (no first-time travelers), prior neuro unit experience, and certification in BLS (AHA) and NIHSS
• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours each, at least 36 hours per week
• Float: Float rotation may be required, with the ability to perform skills accordingly, to be shared with general unit staff and teams
• Additional information: The unit operates 24/7 with a charge nurse on duty at all times, and nurses are not designated to take assignments unless staffing permits. RNs may troubleshoot high flow oxygen therapy for stable COVID patients when needed. House-wide telemetry using Phillips monitors means nurses do not need to read strips. There is a 2-day orientation that includes computer training, unit-specific education, and patient care with a preceptor.
