Job Description

Barnes Jewish Hospital is seeking a Unit Secretary to work part time in the emergency department! Ideal applicants will enjoy working in a fast paced environment and great customer service skills.

Schedule: 6 AM-6 PM (2 days per week including weekend rotation)

The Emergency Department at Barnes-Jewish Hospital is an opportunity to work in a dynamic urban setting where the arrival of each new second brings with it an opportunity to serve a melting pot of a community with a wide array of medical needs. We specialize in a rapid assessment and treatment of patients when every second counts particularly during the initial phase of acute illness and trauma. The Barnes-Jewish Hospital Emergency Department is a Level I Trauma facility and a leader in disaster preparedness for the St. Louis region. No one shift is like the other no one minute is like the next.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

The Unit Secretary performs clerical duties supporting the operations of the patient care team.

Responsibilities

Supports the clinical operations by providing customer service and clerical support.

Transcribes physician orders as appropriate with close attention to detail.

Notifies appropriate nurse when STAT orders are written or when coordinating tests and procedures. Communicates new orders to the healthcare team as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: No Experience
