shiftsRadius Rule: 50 milesPosition Overview\n We are seeking an experienced Med/Telemetry RN with PCU experience to join a 32-bed medical/telemetry unit providing care to adult and geriatric patients with a strong focus on cardiac and progressive care needs.\n This is primarily a telemetry/cardiac unit, and candidates must have previous PCU experience and be comfortable independently reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms.\n Profile review and manager interview are required.Required Qualifications\n \n BLS – Required\n ACLS – Required\n Previous PCU experience – Required\n Strong Telemetry/Cardiac nursing experience\n Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently – Required\n Experience managing cardiac patients and telemetry monitoring\n Epic experience preferred\n First-time travelers are welcome if they meet the required clinical experience\n Unit Details\n \n 32-bed unit\n Primary patient population: Adults and geriatrics\n Nurse-to-patient ratio:\n \n Typically 1:4–5\n Occasional 1:5–6 on nights\n PCU-level overflow may be 1:3\n \n Charge Nurse available on both shifts\n Charge Nurse may occasionally take a lighter assignment of approximately 2–3 patients\n Nurse aides/PCTs available with a target ratio of approximately 1:10\n Common Patient Population & Diagnoses\n The unit manages a broad range of medical, cardiac, and progressive-care patients, including:\n \n Cardiac patients\n Patients with cardiac history\n Cardiac catheterization patients\n EP studies\n Pacemaker patients\n Acute-on-chronic conditions\n Pneumonia\n COVID-19\n COVID patients requiring BiPAP\n Sepsis\n Influenza\n ETOH/substance-related conditions\n Occasional general surgical patients with cardiac history\n Telemetry & Cardiac Monitoring\n Telemetry is a major component of the unit.\n \n Portable telemetry monitors available\n Bedside monitors in patient rooms\n Central monitor/telemetry technician at the nurses' station\n RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry strips\n Strong cardiac rhythm recognition skills are required\n IV Drips\n RNs are required to manage and titrate appropriate drips.\n Common drips include:\n \n Amiodarone (Amio)\n Cardizem\n Heparin\n Nitro\n Nipride\n Lasix\n Low-dose Dopamine\n \n Levophed (Levo) is not used on this unit.Respiratory Support\n Patients may require:\n \n BiPAP\n Trach care\n Airvo/high-flow respiratory support\n \n RNs should be comfortable managing these therapies and providing appropriate troubleshooting/support within their scope.Floating Requirements\n Travelers may be required to float based on operational needs.\n Possible assignments include:\n \n PCU: Full PCU patient assignment\n Med/Surg: Full Med/Surg patient assignment\n ER Holds/Boarding: Care for boarded patients\n Other areas as helping hands when needed\n Schedule\n Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PMNight Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM\n \n Every other weekend\n Every other holiday\n No call/standby requirement\n Manager creates the schedule based on unit needs\n Block scheduling may be considered based on unit requirements\n If rotating between shifts, a 7a–7p / 7p–7a rotation will not occur more than once per week\n Orientation\n 2 × 12-hour unit-specific orientation shifts\n \n Friday and Saturday during the first week of orientation\n Expected to be working independently by the following Sunday\n Dress Code\n \n Any color scrubs\n Assignment Requirements & Important Notes\n \n 50-mile radius rule applies.\n Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are subject to the applicable local policy/rate.\n Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN employees with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity.\n RTO must be submitted upfront.\n Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract.\n Additional RTO will not be approved after submission, so all requested time off must be provided at the time of submission.\n Ideal Candidate\n The ideal candidate is a strong Telemetry/Cardiac RN with PCU experience who is comfortable caring for higher-acuity cardiac and medical patients, interpreting telemetry
