Senior Manager, M&A Corporate Development (Financial Modeling) Location: San Diego (Hybrid) – Full‑time, Monday to Friday, 2–3 in‑office days per week. Overview The corporate development team is responsible for shaping Illumina’s inorganic growth. This role focuses on analyzing new M&A, strategic investment, and divestiture opportunities and conducting comprehensive due diligence. The role will build and own detailed financial models to evaluate opportunities, manage due diligence, and support executive decision‑making. Responsibilities Lead, support, and own the analysis of M&A opportunities, gathering external and internal information, and synthesizing it into clear analyses linked to valuation and decision drivers. Own the development and continuous refinement of complex valuation models (DCF, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions), building integrated transaction models incorporating accretion/dilution, pro‑forma financials, synergy assumptions, and scenario/sensitivity analysis. Translate model outputs into concise financial narratives for executive leaders. Lead diligence on targets, coordinating with cross‑functional teams, conducting risk and integration analysis, and presenting findings to executive leadership. Partner with integration leaders to design strategies and synergy plans, tracking value realization against deal models. Develop high‑quality materials and analyses for the ELT, CEO, CFO, and Board, communicating complex issues with clarity and influencing senior stakeholders. Requirements Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 12 years of related experience in M&A transactions (evaluation, diligence, negotiation, integration) or equivalent. Demonstrated experience in investment banking (M&A), valuation services, private equity, or corporate development, with strong preference for formal financial modeling training. Advanced investment and acquisition modeling skills, including building complex models from scratch. Expertise in valuation and transaction modeling (comparables, precedent transactions, accretion/dilution). Strong analytical rigor and ability to translate business drivers and market dynamics into robust financial assumptions. Track record of independently driving deal analysis and cross‑functional workstreams at leading firms. Strategic thinking, translating scientific, commercial, and financial insights into actionable recommendations. Exceptional communication, executive presence, and stakeholder‑management skills. Passport required; domestic and international travel up to 25% of time. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Benefits & Compensation Base salary: $155,600 – $233,400 (USA). Variable cash programs (bonus/commission) and equity potential as part of the compensation package.
