Registered Nurse In PCU

This position is for a registered nurse in a mixed acuity unit that cares for both PCU and Med Surg patients. This is a very busy surgical floor. The goal staffing ratio is 1:4, but it can be adjusted to 1:5 based on unit needs. Weekends are variable according to departmental requirements. All staff may be required to float within their scope of practice. The schedule could include days, nights, or a combination depending on departmental needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed. Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. Common patient diagnoses involve surgical oncology, including breast, thyroid, melanoma, and hepatobiliary cancers. The unit also serves patients with colorectal and plastic surgery needs. Special procedures performed include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, intravenous antibiotics, and management of oncologic emergencies. There is a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and preventing patient falls. Key skills required for this position include: Management of dysrhythmias, telemetry experience, tracheostomy care, BiPAP/CPAP management, and chest tube care. The unit utilizes computerized charting. Candidates must meet established experience requirements and demonstrate the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team. References must include professional leadership and supervisory personnel. Only qualified candidates will be considered for this position.
