Opportunity: Physician Assistant - Neurosurgery

Job Details:

• Full-time coverage providing both inpatient and outpatient neurosurgery support
• Day shift position, 5x8-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
• Support staff includes RNs, MAs, Surgeons, and additional APPs
• See approximately 8-12 patients per day with an adult patient population
• Department primarily sees cranial patients; surgeons supported are skull surgeons specifically
• Approximately 75% inpatient and 25% outpatient responsibilities
• Outpatient duties consist mostly of post-op check-ins supported by the attending, with potential for solo visits and assisting with clinic procedures
• Inpatient procedures include pulling drains and performing lumbar punctures; no OR time or first assist required
• Outpatient procedures include removing stitches and fixing shunts
• Responsible for helping respond to patient messages as needed in support of the RN team
• EMR system: Epic
• Must have strong inpatient neurosurgery skills and strong pre- and post-op patient care skills
• At least 1-2 years of experience working in an inpatient neurosurgery setting required
• Skull/cranial-based surgical experience highly preferred
• California state license required
• CA DEA with full schedules (2/2n) required
• NP board certification required: ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, or ACNPC
• BLS certification (AHA) required
