Nutrition Aide

USD Head Start is seeking a Nutrition Aide for the Head Start classroom in Beresford. This position is a part-time position. The position works from Mid-August until End of May annually. Responsibilities include serving breakfast and/or lunch and preparing and serving snack for children ages 3-5 attending a Head Start classroom. Prefer applicant that has experience with food service and with children ages 3-5. Must pass fingerprint background check.

Advertised Salary - Starting rate $16.50; commensurate with qualifications, plus benefits

Duration of the Term - 9.5 months

Appointment Percent - 75

Work Hours - Position is in Harrisburg or Beresford. Position is 30 hours per week with a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch Monday – Friday.

Protective Clothing/Equipment - Latex Gloves, Other. Use of apron and hairnet. Other protective gear such as masks are provided if needed.

Physical Requirements - Bending, Stooping, Twisting, Carrying, Grasping, Lifting Below Waist, Lifting light, Pushing/Pulling, Reaching, Squatting, Use Both Hands, Use of Either Hand, Independently, Crouching, Fine Finger Manipulation (keyboarding, pipefitting, bench work, etc), Kneeling, Lifting Above Waist, Lifting moderate, Standing for sustained periods of time, Walking, Wrist Movement (twisting or rotating). Position will crouch/squat or kneel to interact with small children. Position will lift food service containers up to counter height to serve. Position will push food cart back to school kitchen. Position will stand for meal prep, cleaning and during some interactions with children.

Sensory Requirements - Near Vision, Peripheral Vision, Speaking, Vision (With and without corrective lenses), Depth Perception, Hearing

Working Conditions & Exposures - Exposure to Noise, Extreme Weather Conditions (wind, rain, snow, humidity), Vaccination recommended due to potential occupational exposure, Walking/Standing on rough or uneven surfaces (gravel, rocks, etc), Changes of Temperature, Chemical Hazards, Electrical Current, Exposure or Potential Exposure to Blood/Body Fluids, Walking/Standing on wood, metal or concrete. Position may use microwave and small appliances. Position will interact with children indoors and outdoors. May be exposed to children's body/body fluids and possible illness. Position will use a bleach mixture to sanitize classroom spaces.

Working Environment - Classroom Environment, Office Environment. Kitchen or kitchen work space; may be outdoors on playground if needed.
