SALARY RATE: $110, 136 (Annual Salary) based on the FTE

JOB DUTIES:


The functions of Quality Department are to monitor and evaluate the quality or appropriateness of care provided to patients; collect and review data on patient care to identify problems; seek ways to improve patient care and to resolve problems associated with clinical performance. Monitor for regulatory compliance.

The primary responsibility of the position is to perform "call backs" to discharged patients to gather information about their experience while in the hospital, assess that they understand their discharge instructions and follow up care, and offer medical advice and/or triage to practitioner for any patient clinical concerns. This position may be required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays. This position will be working closely with KCH leadership, physicians, program administrators, subject matter experts and staff.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

EDUCATION: Applicants must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing.

NURSING EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of professional nursing work experience.

SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED: Possession of a master's degree from an accredited college or university school of nursing may be substituted for one year of nursing experience.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.


LICENSE REQUIRED: License to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.


For certain positions, possession of a motor vehicle operator's license is required.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:


Proficient use of computer software applications. Ability to collect and organize data into excel spreadsheets. Current knowledge of medical, surgical, and nursing procedures, ability to recognize, interpret and evaluate symptoms of patient's condition and take appropriate action. The employee should be able to initiate and maintain working relationships with members of the medical staff, administration, nursing, and other departments and agencies affiliated with the hospital. Must demonstrate above average interpersonal and communication skills, effectively using in telephone conversations.

KNOWLEDGE OF: Nursing theory and practice; biological, physical, social and medicinal sciences as related to nursing theory and practice; nursing techniques and procedures; nursing literature and current trends and developments in nursing.

ABILITY TO: Apply nursing theory and practices to planning and giving nursing care; recognize, interpret and evaluate symptoms of patient's condition and take appropriate action; direct the work of nursing assistants; work effectively and cooperatively with patients, family members, medical staff and employees.
