SFBGH Euclid 823 Euclid Avenue San Francisco, CA 94118, USA San Francisco Boys Home is an 8‑bed Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) that provides a safe, structured, and intensive trauma‑informed program for boys ages 13–17 with significant emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. SFBH is the only STRTP in San Francisco County, serving adjudicated boys through an integrated model that includes clinical services, structured supervision, and skill‑building interventions designed to achieve measurable outcomes. The residential and clinical staff work as a client‑centered and family‑focused interdisciplinary team. SFBH is one of the collaborative partners of a multidisciplinary team, that includes professionals across legal, clinical, educational, and recreational domains designed to address the multiple and diverse needs of each minor. Staff work to empower youth to build independence, develop essential life skills, engage with their community, and reconnect with their strengths to support healing, growth, and long‑term self‑sufficiency. The psychotherapist is a member of the Mental Health Services Department and reports to the clinical supervisor. The therapist will work with the clinical supervisor to develop the client’s course of treatment while in our care. The therapist is a part of a clinical team that includes a clinical supervisor and rehabilitation specialist. This position is typically weekdays, with the possibility of weekends to accommodate program needs. It is expected that this role is in the agency during business hours, but modifications are often made to accommodate clients and families who need evening appointments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Accept all case assignments, review referral material, and complete intake/placement documentation related to mental health Complete all assessments (mental health, CANS, PSC‑35, etc.) and treatment plan Provide individual (1×/wk), family (1×/wk), and group psychotherapy Engage in collateral contacts, Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTs), and crisis intervention & safety support Attend weekly mandatory individual supervision; group supervision Document all services & progress notes on internal and third‑party EHRs (EPIC) in a timely manner Maintain 50% billable hours CASE REVIEW AND MANAGEMENT Maintain regular CM contacts with attorney, school liaison & counselor, rehab. specialist, residential staff, psychiatrist, probation officer, case manager, etc. Participate in monthly CORE (monthly rounds) meetings with program supervisors to discuss case progress Conduct quarterly case reviews with clinical supervisor and psychiatrist in preparation for CANS updates prior to IPCANS CFTs Attend weekly staff meetings to discuss cases and any updates Meet with DSS, SFDPH, or probation officers as needed Consult with placing agency about medication requests, the need for medication, and documentation surrounding them Attend IEP meetings whenever necessary DISCHARGE PLANNING Devise a working plan with DSS or probation officer for the transition from agency to next setting Prepare Transition Determination Letter and other relevant documentation for continuity of care for client’s next setting and treatment team Plan follow‑up interviews and/or aftercare DEPARTMENTAL AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES Participate in on‑call system for after‑hours coverage of psychiatric emergencies, coordination with Mobile Crisis Unit Meet with program supervisors to review, revise or renew existing policy and procedure regarding treatment Provide in‑service programs as requested Complete training requirements throughout the year (extensive opportunities) Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
