• To provide interpretation of sign language (receptive and expressive) for students, staff, parents and school community Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences 70% * Interpret for school meetings which include school personnel, students, parents, and/or other external participants to ensure access to information. Meetings may include but are not limited to IEP meetings, student staffing, Mental Health meetings, staff development meetings on and off campus with other outside persons/agencies, phone conversations, etc. Provide services to Deaf Administrators, and Dept. Heads as needed on a daily basis.15% * Interpret in the classroom for mainstreamed students.10% * Share teaching responsibilities of Sign Language Orientation Classes to new employees who do not have knowledge of sign language.5% * Maintain Interpreter Database electronically Minimum Education and Experience Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience." If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. Bachelor's degree in an interpreter training program from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of professional interpreting experience in a community, business, or government program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification If applicable as defined by GS 90D, meets the requirements for licensure as determined by the North Carolina Interpreter and Transliterator Licensing Board.
