Perm Director of Rehab

Location: Scarborough, Maine Compensation: $33–$46 per hour, depending on discipline and experience Schedule: 40 hours per week | Monday–Friday Weekend Rotation: Required Facility: 60-bed Skilled Nursing Facility Position Type: Permanent Overview Are you an experienced rehabilitation professional ready to take the next step into leadership? We are seeking a Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) to lead and support the therapy program at a 60-bed skilled nursing facility in Scarborough, Maine. This facility provides post-hospital, short-term rehabilitation along with long-term and respite care, giving you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across a diverse resident population. The ideal candidate is a confident clinical leader who understands the importance of excellent patient care, strong teamwork, and an organized, efficient rehabilitation department. You will have the opportunity to guide the therapy team, collaborate with facility leadership, and help ensure residents receive high-quality rehabilitation services throughout their stay. This position is not open to new graduates. Candidates must have prior DOR or rehabilitation leadership experience. Why Join This Team? Competitive compensation of $33–$46 per hour , depending on discipline Leadership opportunity in a 60-bed skilled nursing facility Work with residents receiving post-hospital and short-term rehabilitation, as well as long-term and respite care Join a team dedicated to meeting the medical and rehabilitation needs of individuals recovering from illness or injury Opportunity to influence clinical quality, team development, and resident outcomes Facility accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance plans Recognized as a Silver AHCA Quality Award winner Collaborative environment where clinical leadership and teamwork are highly valued Responsibilities Provide leadership and direction for the rehabilitation department Oversee daily therapy operations and help ensure efficient delivery of services Support, mentor, and develop rehabilitation staff across disciplines Collaborate with nursing, administration, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team Monitor therapy quality, productivity, documentation, and clinical outcomes Participate in care planning and help ensure individualized rehabilitation goals are established and followed Assist with staffing, scheduling, and departmental coverage Promote compliance with applicable federal, state, and facility regulations Identify opportunities to improve clinical programs, workflows, and resident outcomes Participate in staff education and professional development initiatives Foster a positive department culture built around communication, accountability, and excellent patient care Serve as a clinical resource for therapists and facility leadership Qualifications Active Maine license in an eligible rehabilitation discipline Previous Director of Rehabilitation or comparable rehabilitation leadership experience required Candidates from the following disciplines will be considered: Occupational Therapist (OT) Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Physical Therapist (PT) Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Strong understanding of rehabilitation operations and clinical documentation Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills Ability to effectively mentor and motivate a multidisciplinary therapy team Skilled in working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare environment Experience in skilled nursing or post-acute rehabilitation preferred New graduates will not be considered.
