Registered Nurse (RN) – Psychiatry / Psych Float

Location: Syracuse, NY
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 16 Weeks
Shift: Night | 12 Hours
Schedule: Psych Float | Every Other Weekend & Some Holidays Required
Start Date: ASAP
Local Candidates: Accepted
Traveler Candidates: Accepted

Pay Rate: $58–$62/hr

Required Qualifications:

• Current, active New York State RN Registration

• BLS certification required

• Minimum 1.5 years of recent RN experience within the past 2 years in a similar acute-care facility

• 2 years of experience in the required specialty

• Inpatient psychiatric experience with adult, child, and adolescent patients

• EPIC experience preferred

• Strong nursing assessment and acute-care clinical skills

• Ability to perform required patient-care skills with minimal supervision

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Traveler experience in hospitals of similar or greater size or trauma centers preferred

• Must complete required health clearance, drug screening, and background check

• Legal authorization to work in the United States required

• Professional license/certification must be active and in good standing

Responsibilities:

• Provide safe and comprehensive nursing care to psychiatric patients

• Care for adult, child, and adolescent psychiatric patients based on individual needs

• Perform nursing assessments and identify changes in patient condition

• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans

• Perform required nursing skills with minimal supervision

• Monitor physical, behavioral, and psychological status

• Administer medications and treatments according to orders and nursing standards

• Maintain accurate patient documentation using EPIC

• Communicate with physicians, nurses, behavioral health professionals, patients, and families

• Maintain patient safety and confidentiality

• Follow hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements

• Apply appropriate clinical judgment in an acute psychiatric environment

• Float to appropriate psychiatric assignments as required

• Participate in every other weekend and designated holiday coverage

• Maintain required licensure, certifications, and competencies

• Perform other nursing duties as assigned
