Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Job Description

Coordinates and oversees the daily operations of the nuclear medicine technologists and maintains the technical aspects of nuclear medicine services.

Job Responsibility

• Positions and instructs patients in preparation for the application of radio nuclides using specialized equipment and procedures.
• Adjusts nuclear equipment to the correct setting for each examination as prescribed by the attending physician.
• Performs renal scans on pediatric population and handles emergency situations.
• Reviews the processing of nuclear studies.
• Performs routine Quality Assurance testing
• Orders radiological pharmaceuticals.
• Follows guidelines set forth by ACR and DOH. Prepares and maintains records and files of procedures.
• Troubleshoots equipment failure, makes repairs where possible Insures equipment is functioning properly on a continuous basis.
• Monitors the level of stock of supplies, as needed.
• Provides training and technical direction to lower level technologists and nurses in nuclear procedures and processes.

Job Qualification

• Vocational or Technical school Diploma required.
• Current License to practice as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in New York State,
• Current ARRT Nuclear registration,
• or Current CNMT registration required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• 3-5 years of technical experience, required.
