Travel RN - Med/SurgAmerican TravelerSpokane Valley, Washington, United StatesPosition ID: P-775349Position status: OpenAssignment type: travelShift: DaysLength (weeks): 14Openings: 1$2,183.32/week (estimated advertised weekly pay)DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg System Float Pool position requiring at least 1 year of telemetry or PCU experience and a WA or compact RN license.DetailsSystem Float Pool position at a 123-bed Level III Trauma Center community hospital in Spokane Valley, WAFloats between Med/Surg (44 beds), Acute Respiratory (16 beds), ED/MS Overflow, and Progressive Care units within scope of practiceMed/Surg patients include COPD, CHF, sepsis, AKI/CKD, DVT, PE, cellulitis, pancreatitis, and ETOH as well as surgical/ortho, GI, GU, GYN, podiatry, and ENT casesAcute Respiratory floor cares for COPD, pneumonia, CHF, and other respiratory patients using high flow and BiPap, located near RT and ICUProgressive Care unit manages PCU-level patients only, including Afib RVR and q4h checks, with no ICU, cath lab, major cardiac, neuro, or trauma casesPatient ratios are 1:5 on Med/Surg and 1:3 on PCU with no CNA support12-hour day and night shifts (0700-1930 and 1900-0730), 36 hours per weekWorks every other weekend with no on-call requirement, though low census is possibleEMR is Epic, IV pump is ICU Plum Medical, and medication dispensing is via PyxisRequirementsActive WA or compact RN license requiredBLS and ACLS certifications requiredMinimum 1 year of true telemetry or PCU experience requiredMust pass a cardiac rhythm interpretation exam during the compliance process prior to startSkills required include high flow O2, chest tubes, peripheral IV starts/maintenance, wound care/dressing changes, wound vac management, JP and hemovac drains, nephrostomy tube care, pain management, PCA, central line management, and cardiac rhythm interpretationExperience with drips such as Heparin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and nitro requiredAdditional InformationSupport team includes CNAs on Med-Surg units, Charge RN as a resource, 24/7 phlebotomy, RT, hospitalist, and rapid response/code team, plus OT, PT, and SLP during the dayCentralized tele monitoring with dedicated techs available 24/7Orientation includes 1 day of classroom training with skills check-off, followed by 12 hours of unit orientation split across three unitsShift safety huddle held at the start of every shiftScrubs must be any solid, professional color with no graphics, logos, or designsFree parking available in a designated areaTravelers often enjoy the unit culture, frequently extend assignments, and some staff originally started as travelersRequired to work 1 holiday per contractUp to 5 days of RTO can be approvedFirst-time travelers are welcome to apply
