Benefits & Leave Specialist
Macomb, MI (Fully Onsite)

We are seeking an experienced Benefits & Leave Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This position is responsible for administering employee benefits and leave of absence programs while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced with HRIS systems and employee benefits administration.

 

Responsibilities:

• Administer employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, FSA/HSA, wellness, and retirement plans
• Manage leave of absence programs including FMLA, ADA, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, Workers' Compensation, and paid leave
• Process benefit enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations, and employee changes
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits and leave-related questions
• Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS and ensure data integrity
• Audit benefit deductions, payroll data, carrier invoices, and eligibility files
• Partner with HR, Payroll, managers, and third-party vendors to ensure accurate administration of benefits and leave programs
• Coordinate annual open enrollment activities
• Ensure compliance with ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, and applicable employment regulations
• Prepare reports, assist with audits, and identify opportunities for process improvements

 

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in benefits administration and leave management
• Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and Workers' Compensation
• Experience administering medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, and disability benefits
• Strong HRIS experience required (Dayforce/Ceridian preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• CEBS, SHRM, PHR, or related certification is a plus
