This role is onsite based in Palo Alto, CA. The ideal candidate can demonstrate hands-on experience in driving innovative products from concept, through prototyping and design, all the way to manufacturing. They are committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment where every team member is empowered to leverage their strengths in order to deliver robust and elegantly simple solutions to difficult problems.What You'll Do:Manage, mentor, and guide a team of electrical engineers with diverse backgrounds who drive the development of Wing's growing portfolio of aircraft and ground support hardwareEncourage innovation and technical leadership across all areas of electronic hardware development and related processesFoster personal growth by assigning each team member to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term goals, personalities, and work stylesSet clear expectations and create a positive, supportive, and inclusive work environmentSupport the performance review process and provide effective feedbackHire and develop new talent to improve our capabilities, enhance our capacity, and execute on product development opportunitiesImplement both tactical and strategic team and org-based improvement initiativesDrive cross-functional consensus building in a dynamic environment and promote strong, "silo-free" communication and collaboration between teamsSupport schedule/budget development and coordinate with program managementHelp define streamlined hardware development and verification processesProvide focus and technical leadership in design reviewsIdentify and mitigate potential risks/issues throughout the project life cycleActively reduce complexity by fostering simple and elegant designs/solutionsChampion product safety and reliability for systems and components with the highest level of integrityWhat You'll Need:10+ years of hardware development engineering experience; 5+ years of managerial experienceProven track record of building, leading, and managing high-functioning design and/or technical teamsAbility to inspire and coach individuals and groups to achieve career development and performance goalsProven track record of building relationships, fostering collaboration, driving conflict resolution, and working cross-functionally with multidisciplinary teamsExperience managing priorities in ambiguous situations; strives in a fast paced environment, adapts quickly to new requirementsProven track record and expertise in design of embedded systems on simple microcontrollers and complex SoCsPractical knowledge of how to quickly prototype and test designs as well as experience with high-volume production manufacturingProficient in CAD software and EPDM (Altium/Agile preferred)Creative problem-solving experienceFamiliarity with UAS specific systems designs - navigation, perception, motors, batteries, and flight controlsPassion for or interest in aviationThe US base salary range for this full-time position is the salary range below + bonus + equity + benefits. Wing's salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
