Visual Inspection Operations Technician

Responsibilities During the project phase, the Visual Inspection Technician will support commissioning and qualification activities required to bring inspection lines, utilizing semi‑automated and automated technology, into service, as well as supporting site operational readiness activities. This role includes the opportunity to become a subject‑matter expert for the inspection equipment/process, with the potential for development into a Line Lead or other leadership role. After project phase completion, the technician will be responsible for the safe operation of highly automated equipment used to inspect syringes. The technician is expected to model current Good Manufacturing Practices and ensure compliance with all safety standards, support the Line Lead in operator development, and identify opportunities for operational improvement. Key objectives include: Provide commissioning, qualification, and operational readiness support during the project phase. Adhere to RTP Plant safety policies and procedures, contributing to a safe work environment. Follow standard operating procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure product quality. Support leadership on the manufacturing floor by ensuring high levels of safety, quality, and productivity to maintain reliable product supply. Proactively monitor documentation and product quality; properly document all activities and report issues to supervision. Support leadership during troubleshooting, functioning as a reliable point of contact for issue escalation on the shop floor. Drive departmental objectives such as improving safety performance, reducing deviations, enhancing productivity, and ensuring training compliance. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum 1 year of relevant experience (education may be substituted for experience with manager discretion). 2+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or equivalent regulated industry. Scientific/technical degrees or certifications. Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs). Previous experience utilizing semi‑automated and automated visual inspection equipment. Previous experience with pre‑filled syringe (PFS) technology. Previous experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems and electronic batch records. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles. Work Conditions Ability to wear safety equipment (safety glasses, safety shoes, protective gloves, etc.). Ability to work 12‑hour shifts on a 2‑2‑3 schedule. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to travel during the Project Phase and Short‑term assignment of 1–2 months in Indianapolis during the project phase. Short (less than 1 month) international travel may be required.
