Job Description
Exciting Opportunity for a Trauma Level 1 Nurse!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12-Hour Nights (4 weekends per month)
- Location: Multiple Facilities (Approx. 30 minutes apart)


Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 months of Trauma Level 1 experience
- Will consider candidates with less than 2 years of experience
- Must pass DYS exam prior to accepting; 2 attempts allowed

Floating Policy:
- Must be willing to float between facilities:
- St. Joseph's Main
- St. Joseph's Westgate
- AZ General Laveen
- Free Standing ERs in Litchfield Park & Glendale

Additional Notes:
- Natural hair color and no facial piercings required
- Men must be clean-shaven for fit test
- Day 1 Pass/Fail Exam: Study Guide provided
- SIMs Lab Training required: Foley catheter insertion & central line dressing changes (specific to areas)
- Expected competencies: maintain sterile field, lifts, restraints, and wound care

Patient Care Details:
- Unit: Emergency Department / Trauma
- Bed Capacity: Acute 36, Subacute 54, Trauma Bays 6
- Patient Ratios: 1:4
- EMR: Cerner
- Charge Nurses: 2 RNs with light patient load
- Nurse Aides: 4-PCTs for sitters
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts (discretion of unit)

Common Diagnoses:
- Trauma, Burns, Pediatrics
- Annual Patient Volume: 88,000 (250-300 per day)

Important Policies:
- Cancellation: Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, 3 for shorter assignments
- Orientation: 2-3 shifts floor-specific

Required Certifications:
- BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Preferred: TNCC and ATCN (ENPC not accepted as PALS replacement)
