Full-Time | Onsite with Hybrid Consideration

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a respected Charleston-based law firm to recruit an experienced Family Law Paralegal to support a high-volume family law practice. This role requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to support attorneys and clients through complex and emotionally sensitive legal matters.

This position is fully onsite during the first 90 days to support onboarding and training. After a successful onboarding period, a hybrid schedule (three days onsite, two days remote) may be considered.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of tenured experience handling substantial net-worth divorce and high-conflict custody issues in South Carolina as a billing paralegal.

Compensation and Billables

Salary range: $70,000 to $90,000 , depending on experience

Annual billable target: approximately 1,200 hours

Work Environment
  • Office located in downtown Charleston near the historic district (ZIP code 29401)
  • Fully onsite for the initial 90-day onboarding period
  • Hybrid schedule potential following successful onboarding
  • Standard business hours with flexibility based on case and client needs
What You'll Do:
  • Prepare, review, and file family court pleadings, motions, affidavits, financial disclosures, and discovery documents
  • Maintain and manage electronic and physical case files with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Track deadlines, hearings, and court dates to ensure compliance with South Carolina Family Court rules
  • Support attorneys with case strategy execution by managing task flow, filings, and next steps
  • Assist with post-judgment matters and enforcement actions, including preparation of related documentation
  • Provide support for hearings and trials, including exhibit preparation, witness coordination, and courtroom materials
  • Draft discovery requests and responses and assist with compiling production materials
  • Communicate professionally with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel
  • Coordinate with external professionals such as forensic accountants, custody evaluators, therapists, and valuation experts as needed
  • Schedule hearings, mediations, depositions, and client meetings
  • Enter billable time accurately and consistently in accordance with firm expectations
  • Proactively support case progression by anticipating attorney and case needs
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with South Carolina Family Court procedures and filings
  • 3+ years of family law paralegal experience within a U.S. law firm environment, supporting litigation, mediation, and contested hearings
  • Strong working knowledge of family law processes, deadlines, and court rules
  • Proven ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, legal case management, and time-tracking systems
  • Paralegal certificate, degree, or equivalent practical experience
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Demonstrate strong ownership of assigned responsibilities and attention to detail
  • Meet billable expectations with timely and accurate time entry
  • Work effectively within a collaborative, team-oriented legal environment
  • Communicate proactively and reliably with attorneys and colleagues
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence and discretion when working with clients in high-stress or sensitive situations
Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance effective on the first day of employment, a 401(k) retirement plan, and a variety of ancillary benefits.
