Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Midshift Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 1 year in related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred Description: This position provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process. The nurse assesses, diagnoses, plans, intervenes, and evaluates care for assigned patients. Nurses address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. The role requires using appropriate protocols to administer medications and treatments. Monitoring for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments is essential. Documentation of patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided is required. Assessing learning needs and providing education to patients, family members, and caregivers is important. The nurse demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation and practices independently. Responsibilities include making appropriate assignments and delegating to other care providers to manage the clinical situation. The nurse continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. On-call requirements include being available 1-2 times per week and every third weekend. The nurse will primarily work with adult and geriatric patients, as well as a limited number of pediatric cases. Floating to another facility may be required within specific departments. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:1.
