Job Description UF Information Technology (UFIT) is seeking an entry level IT Infrastructure Technician to join Infrastructure and Communication Technology (ICT). This position is part of a structured rotational development program. The selected candidate will rotate through multiple IT infrastructure functions, including Construction, Break/Fix, Refresh, and Tier 2 Networking Support, at intervals of approximately 9‑12 months. These rotations are designed to build comprehensive knowledge of the organization’s networking environment and operational processes. Final long‑term placement will be determined based on organizational needs and demonstrated skills. Key Responsibilities Task troubleshooting and resolving moderate to complex network issues. Resolve moderately complex network problems involving building level, layer‑1, and layer‑2 network infrastructure components. Configure layer‑2 network electronics such as switches and hubs in accordance with the network design guide. Evaluate network performance, perform periodic maintenance, review procedures, and document processes for continuous improvement. Follow best practices for new building construction, data center updates, and major building renovation projects, including wall‑plate equipment renewal projects. Integrate design standards and special requirements into complete configurations. Serve as a technical resource for coworkers and customers for layer‑2 networks on small to medium‑sized buildings. Qualifications Associate’s degree and two years of appropriate experience or high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Relevant college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate. CCNA Certification or equivalent must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment. A valid driver’s license. Preferred Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, or a related field. CCNA certification and/or equivalent certification. Knowledge of physical network infrastructure and components. Working knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and ICMP. Excellent service through professional and courteous interactions with internal and external stakeholders while meeting business needs.
