Job Description
Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Exciting opportunities are available for skilled Sign Language Interpreters looking to make a significant impact in educational settings. Multiple full-time contract openings are offered for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, with start and end dates running from late August 2026 through mid-July 2027. Placement will be determined based on both caseload preferences and home area to ensure the best fit for the interpreter and school community alike.
As part of a collaborative group, you'll be working closely with a supportive team that includes professionals specialized in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) services and additional classroom assistants. Your skills will be instrumental in facilitating communication and ensuring educational equity for students using sign language.
Qualifications:
- Valid licensure/certification as a Sign Language Interpreter required
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with educational interpreting best practices
- Experience working in school settings or with DHH students preferred
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to various classroom environments and caseloads
Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation services for students, staff, and parents as needed in classrooms and school activities
- Collaborate with DHH specialists and general education staff to support student learning and participation
- Adapt interpreting style to meet the unique communication needs of each student
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity at all times
- Participate in team meetings and professional development as required
