Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN requiring at least 1 year of ER experience and current FL or compact RN licensure.

Details

13-week assignment in a hospital Emergency Department treating combined adult/pediatric patients

Level I and Level II Trauma Center, STEMI certified, and Stroke certified facility

Day shift schedule of 3x12 hour shifts from 11:00 to 23:00

Patient ratio of 1:4

Every other weekend required, approximately 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule cycle

On-call required as needed

May float to all 4 facility locations: Holmes, Viera, Cape Canaveral, and Palm Bay

Documentation completed in Epic

Contracted hours are guaranteed

Requirements

Active FL or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted

Minimum 1 year of recent ER experience required

Prior travel nursing experience required

Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC; CPI preferred

Epic charting experience required

Skills needed include IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, starting and maintaining IVs, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, ABG interpretation, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation monitoring

Experience with neurological emergencies including CVA, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, and spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries

Experience managing shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, pediatric trauma, head injury, near drowning, and spinal cord injury

Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, triage, and orthopedic trauma

Previous acute care experience in a large hospital setting required

Two supervisory references (Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director) dated within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of trauma, cardiac, neurological, and pediatric cases

Required flu vaccine during flu season (10/31-3/31), with medical or religious exemptions only

Scrubs must be a solid color with matching top and bottom, no logos or prints; may provide own or wear facility-provided scrubs

Free parking provided with a decal issued at orientation

Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers with no radius restriction

First-time travelers are not accepted for this role

Former employees or contracted staff must have at least one year of separation before returning as a traveler

Travel pairs are permitted with unit leader approval, though matching schedules are not guaranteed

Finalized RTO must be submitted for consideration and will not be accepted after offer
