Tenured: Associate Professor or Professor & Associate Dean for Graduate and Professional Nursing Education Nursing Open Date 5/1/2026 Position ID 182493 Description Texas A&M University College of Nursing is accepting applications for a full-time tenured faculty position to serve as the Associate Dean for Graduate and Professional Nursing Education. This position includes teaching in our nationally ranked graduate and professional nursing programs. The 11-month appointment is an on-campus, in-person position located in Bryan-College Station. Applicants must meet the criteria for a tenured appointment and will be considered for the faculty titles of Associate Professor or Professor, with preference for those at the Professor rank. Academic rank and salary are based on qualifications and experience. The Associate Dean for Graduate and Professional Nursing Education leads and administers the development, implementation, and evaluation of an outstanding portfolio of master’s and doctoral nursing programs. The Associate Dean collaborates with the Executive Associate, Associate and Assistant Deans to achieve mutual goals or address common concerns. This administrative appointment is in the College of Nursing. The Associate Dean reports to the Executive Associate Dean of the college. The position will support the advancement of faculty on both tenure and academic professional tracks, and promote a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff. The role is a 50% effort administrative appointment, 20% teaching, 20% scholarship, and 10% service. The College of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Traditional, Second degree, and RN to BSN), MSN-Family Nurse Practitioner, MSN-Nursing Education, MSN-Forensic Nursing, DNP-Leadership, DNP-Forensic Nursing, DNP-Extreme Environment Nursing, graduate certificate in Forensic Health Care and post-graduate certificates in FNP, PMHNP and AGACNP. Future plans include a PhD program and additional graduate and post-graduate certificate programs. Job Responsibilities 50% Administrative Appointment Duties and Responsibilities Assume a leadership role in graduate and professional programs. Lead and manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of the graduate and professional programs in a collaborative approach with the Executive Associate Dean, other leaders, and faculty. Lead and oversee operations that support the graduate and professional program options and sites. Provide for faculty development in curriculum, assessment, evaluation, and pedagogy. Assign faculty workload in collaboration with the Executive Associate Dean and other College of Nursing leaders. Manage course schedules with course and program coordinators. Conduct annual reviews with faculty and support their professional development. Collaborate with academic leaders to oversee graduate and professional program guidelines for the College of Nursing. Assure adequacy of physical and fiscal resources that support the graduate and professional programs. Provide educational consultation to faculty regarding the development of courses. Collaborate with other leaders in the College of Nursing, TAMU, Health Science Center, academic clinical partners, and stakeholders within the local community. Assist in the recruitment and retention of faculty. Collaborate to assure quality student enrollment, retention, program completion, licensure, and certification success initiatives. In partnership with Student Affairs and faculty, assure that policies support high quality student recruitment, admissions, and progression in the graduate and professional program options. Create academic reports such as those required for: Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Texas Board of Nursing (TBON), and Texas A&M System. Monitor program outcomes such as licensure and certification exam pass rates, program completion rates, employment rates, former student satisfaction, and employer satisfaction. Create a positive and supportive working and learning environment. Serve as a role model for innovation, collaboration, and consensus-building. Represent the College of Nursing on university committees and task forces related to academic issues. Chair graduate faculty meetings and serve as an ex-officio member of other College of Nursing standing committees as determined by the Executive Associate Dean. Serve on the College of Nursing Executive Council. Address stakeholder concerns in a timely and professional manner. Assume a leadership role in the University, discipline, and profession of nursing Promote and advance the nursing profession and the Texas A&M College of Nursing locally, regionally, and nationally. Participate in professional organizations at a level expected for an academic leader. Build and maintain professional working relations with College of Nursing stakeholders. Seek funding opportunities for academic programs. 20% Teaching All tenured faculty are expected to teach. Instruction in the College of Nursing is complex, given the practice nature of the discipline, Board of Nursing regulation, accreditation standards, content and clinical mastery, etc. These expectations are broadly described as expectations to: Participate in and lead teaching excellence to assure ongoing academic program and simulation accreditation and national recognition as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education. Implement programs and courses with mastery of both didactic content and clinical education. Develop new courses according to curriculum and accreditation standards. Prepare course materials and examinations that are current, evaluated, and revised to improve student learning. Teach effectively in the classroom, clinical settings, simulation, and/or online environment. Select and manage quality clinical learning experiences in a variety of settings. Provide competent clinical supervision of students. Advise and mentor students for academic success. Maintain posted office hours. Collaborate with and mentor faculty peers. Maintain clinical currency and relevant certifications. All tenured faculty are expected to generate and disseminate new knowledge consistent with rank. General expectations include active participation in research and scholarship, and dissemination through publications and presentations. Specific levels or types of external funding are not required; however, research support as a principal investigator demonstrates that a panel of reviewers judged proposed work to be original and significant. Therefore, competitive external funding serves as an indicator of faculty research impact and reputation. 10% Service All faculty are expected to participate in service activities to the University, the college, and to the profession. Additionally, engagement in community service opportunities is encouraged. Faculty who are tenured as Associate Professors or Professors are expected to mentor junior faculty, chair university or college committees, and to be engaged in professional organizations/boards at the state, regional, and national level. The anticipated start date 8/1/2026. Qualifications Required Education: PhD degree in nursing or a PhD in a closely related field with a master’s degree in nursing. Required Experience: Six years related professional experience in academic nursing education. Leadership experience in nursing education, curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. Five years as a full-time faculty member in a college or College of Nursing that offers graduate and professional program education. Must have experience with nursing education accreditation, compliance with clinical agency requirements, and regulation by state boards of nursing. A history of leadership in nursing education that includes clinical and classroom settings. Required Licenses and Certifications: Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Texas or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
