Assistant Process Manager, Spray Drying

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks an Assistant Process Manager for spray drying operations in Florence, South Carolina. The role involves process development, technology transfer, manufacturing support, and continuous improvement in a GMP-regulated environment. The position requires technical leadership in validating processes and resolving manufacturing challenges.

Responsibilities

• Manage spray drying projects from planning through execution and delivery
• Conduct process development, optimization, and technology transfer activities
• Author manufacturing instructions, recipes, reports, and handle deviations
• Lead complex investigations and implement solutions to maintain quality and efficiency
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide client updates

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in chemical/mechanical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, or biotechnology
• 0–3 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, preferably GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or biotech
• Technical expertise in fluid flow, process development, scale-up, and technology transfer
• Knowledge of cGMP regulations, quality systems, and process validation
• Proficiency in statistical analysis software and Microsoft Office suite
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to lead investigations, mentor colleagues, and work in matrix environments
