From seed to shelf, we manage an end-to-end operation: sourcing premium botanical raw materials from a trusted network of third-party farmers and suppliers, managing our own state-of-the-art production facility, and selling directly to health-conscious consumers through a thriving e-commerce platform and B2C retail channels. We operate as three affiliated companies under common ownership, covering manufacturing, production, and sales and distribution.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Corporate Controller to serve as a key strategic partner to our executive team. In this hands-on role, you will bridge the gap between complex supply chain logistics (third-party raw material procurement and manufacturing) and omni-channel sales performance (DTC e-commerce and retail distribution).

This role runs the accounting function across three companies and is accountable for Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), optimization of inventory capital, managing gross-to-net margins, and designing the financial frameworks needed to scale our production and sales operations efficiently. The right candidate will run the close personally while modernizing how the work gets done.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic FP&A & Growth Planning

• Financial Modeling & Forecasting: Build, scale, and maintain detailed rolling forecast models that look across raw material purchasing, factory output limits, and sales velocity.
• Channel Profitability: Analyze margins across digital (DTC e-commerce) and physical (B2C retail/wholesale) channels to optimize pricing, promotional strategies, and customer acquisition cost (CAC) vs. lifetime value (LTV).
• Capital Allocation: Guide executive decisions on capital expenditure (CapEx) for manufacturing equipment upgrades, facility expansions, and tech-stack investments.

Supply Chain & Production Finance

• Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) Optimization: Track and analyze standard costing variations, from raw botanical ingredient procurement through final product packaging.
• Inventory & Working Capital Management: Partner with supply chain and manufacturing teams to optimize inventory turns, prevent stockouts of raw materials, and minimize cash tied up in excess finished goods.
• Vendor Strategy: Evaluate third-party supplier agreements, lead cost-benefit analyses on volume purchasing discounts, and negotiate payment terms to optimize cash flow.

E-commerce & B2C Commercial Finance

• Marketing ROI Tracking: Collaborate closely with the growth marketing team to evaluate the financial return on digital advertising spend (ROAS), affiliate networks, and customer retention campaigns.
• Merchant & Platform Economics: Oversee merchant processing fees, e-commerce platform fulfillment costs (pick-and-pack, shipping), and chargebacks to protect gross margins.
• Cash Flow Management: Manage multi-channel revenue cycles, balancing fast-clearing digital payments with longer payment terms typical of B2C retail accounts.

️ Accounting Oversight & Compliance

• Financial Reporting: Month-end close for three companies, completed by the 20th of each month, with a close checklist, calendar and sign-offs. Supervise the accounting team to guarantee a timely month-end close, producing accurate GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Intercompany billing and reconciliation, and a combined monthly reporting package for the CEO.
• Multi-channel revenue across ecommerce, subscriptions, contact center, retail, wholesale and Amazon, including revenue recognition and deferred revenue.
• Oversight of accounts payable and receivable, cash management, banking and payroll across the three companies.
• Monthly balance sheet reconciliations: bank, payment-processor and clearing accounts, inventory, intercompany balances, accruals and prepaids.
• Automation: bank-feed rules in QuickBooks, AP automation (for example Ramp or Bill.com), and connecting inventory systems to accounting.
• Regulatory & Sales Tax Compliance: Ensure proper economic nexus configuration for automated sales tax compliance across multiple e-commerce jurisdictions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. An MBA, CPA, or CFA is highly preferred.
• Experience: 7+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Finance Director, FP&A Manager) inside an inventory-intensive business (CPG, food/beverage, cosmetics, or dietary supplements). Experience running the month-end close as a controller.
• Industry Knowledge: Deep familiarity with vertically integrated businesses—from raw material sourcing and factory operations to multi-channel B2C/DTC retail distributions.
• Multi-entity and intercompany accounting, including combined or consolidated reporting.
• Ecommerce and multi-channel revenue, and multi-state sales tax experience.
• Technical Skills: Advanced mastery of Excel/financial modeling. Direct experience working with modern Cloud ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or specialized manufacturing/inventory software) integrated with e-commerce platforms like Shopify.
• Advanced QuickBooks Online in a multi-entity setup. Experience with Shopify Plus, Recharge, Amazon and AP automation tools is preferred.
• A proven track record of moving manual processes to an automated one.
• Hands-on and organized: comfortable doing the work and building the structure (checklists, due dates, a close calendar) that the team follows.
• A clear communicator who can explain the numbers simply to non-finance leaders.
• Experience in a founder- or family-owned company.
• Analytical Mindset: Exceptional ability to translate complex operational data (kilograms of raw botanical extract, machine run-times, click-through rates) into actionable financial strategies.
