As a Software Engineer II, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of software systems for advanced aerospace applications. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure software meets performance and quality standards. The team you will work with is on one of our Internal Research and Development (IR&D) programs on leading edge air defense technologies. You will join an established and motivated team that focuses on integration of multiple systems and software products together. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations – with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and testing of complex software components.
• Debug and troubleshoot advanced software issues.
• Write and maintain detailed code documentation.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
• Support the integration of software with hardware systems.
• Define software requirements and specifications in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance software performance and quality.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in software development.
• Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C# or Java.
• Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Proficient with communication and collaboration skills
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience with Linux (RHEL) and windows services
• Knowledge of tactical/moving map software integration
• Knowledge with hardware integration and protocol development
• Background in Aerospace and Defense industry.
• Understanding of industry standard software languages such as C, C#, C++, HTML, Java, Python, and Bash.
• Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral.
• Experienced with data structures.

Essential Functions:

• Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
• Hand/finger dexterity for coding and testing.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment with occasional travel.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $108,496.89 - $149,183.22. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
