Manufacturing Engineer (Machining)

Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.MANUFACTURING ENGINEER (MACHINING)As a manufacturing engineer at SpaceX, you will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge, experience, and creativity to develop novel solutions at the cutting edge of space technology. You will work on hardware that will deliver satellites into Earth orbit, ferry humans to and from the International Space Station, and ultimately extend humanity’s reach beyond the Earth and Moon. You will own the relationship between our engineering and production teams. You will provide input into the design and development of new and existing hardware and take a lead role in manufacturing and integration within production on our current and next-generation vehicles.RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide engineering support for product design and process improvements to improve manufacturing efficiency, ensure product quality, and lower costs for new and existing productsAnalyze and disposition recurring manufacturing discrepancies and interface with the quality team on root cause analysis and corrective actionsCreate and manage manufacturing BOMs, work instructions, and specificationsCommunicate on a daily basis with supporting departments such as production, machining, maintenance, quality, and design engineering to ensure that product is delivered on time to the correct quantitiesUse project management skills and tools to investigate and lead projects for alternate component technologies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliabilityBASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or physics1+ years of of hands-on experience in design, development, manufacturing or test (internship and project team experience is applicable)PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in an engineering disciplineExperience with CNC machinery (lathe, mill, waterjet, laser cutter, EDM)Experience with CAM programming (Hypermill, MasterCAM, ESPRIT, NX)Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) experienceCAD experience (NX & Teamcenter)Tooling design experienceDesign for manufacturability and assembly experienceExperience with capacity modeling, process mapping, and fault analysisExperience with Lean Six Sigma or equivalent high-performance culture systemsPareto analysis, root cause, and corrective action experienceADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as neededMust be able to work onsite in Hawthorne, CA - remote work not consideredCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay Range:Level 1: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00Level 2: $115,000.00 - $160,000.00Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
