Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of middle school students this upcoming school year as a Special Education Teacher. This contract position is designed to cover a leave, providing support to a vibrant middle school caseload in Newark, DE. Work onsite during typical school hours, approximately 6:45 am to 2:45 pm, and collaborate with a dedicated team committed to empowering every learner.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active or pending Delaware Special Education Teacher certification required
  • Experience supporting middle school-aged students in a classroom setting
  • Ability to effectively deliver individualized and small group instruction
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, encouraging classroom environment
  • Capable of passing a background check and drug screening
  • Spanish language skills are a plus but not mandatory
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities

Responsibilities:

  • Implement IEPs and adapt curriculum to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Track student progress, maintain documentation, and engage in regular communication with families and staff
  • Foster a supportive, structured classroom that values diversity and positive behavior
  • Collaborate with general education staff, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
  • Provide guidance, encouragement, and advocacy to help students achieve their academic and social goals
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold school, district, and state policies

This full-time position offers a consistent schedule of 35-40 hours per week, with competitive weekly pay every Friday.
