Special Education Teacher in Newark, DE

Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Transform your passion for special education into a rewarding contract position supporting a vibrant middle school community. A full-time Special Education Teacher is needed to cover a leave for the 2026/2027 school year. This opportunity offers a consistent schedule of approximately 35-40 hours a week, with hours running from about 6:45 am to 2:45 pm.

As a valued educator, you'll work with a diverse middle school caseload, providing essential support and instruction to students who need it most. Your expertise will help shape a positive academic journey for learners, while your commitment will foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment. Spanish language skills are an asset, although not required for this assignment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Active or pending Delaware Special Education certification (required)
Experience with middle school students in a special education setting preferred
Ability to work on site and commit to covering the full leave period
Must be able to successfully pass a drug screen and background check
Spanish proficiency is a plus, but not mandatory
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver specially designed instruction and accommodations in accordance with IEPs
Manage and support a middle school caseload
Collaborate closely with general education teachers, families, and support staff
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and progress reports
Foster an inclusive, adaptable, and engaging classroom atmosphere
