Naloxone Hub Trainer (PRN)

Communities for Recovery

The Naloxone Hub Trainer serves as a community-based educator and outreach representative responsible for increasing overdose prevention awareness, facilitating trainings, distributing naloxone, and developing community partnerships throughout the assigned service region. This is a flexible, PRN (as-needed) position with no fixed work schedule or guaranteed number of hours. Trainers are responsible for supporting program goals through outreach, training facilitation, community engagement, and relationship development. While flexibility is a key component of this role, trainers are expected to meet established minimum performance standards to remain active and in good standing. Work may be performed remotely, from Communities for Recovery offices, virtually, or in the field, depending on program needs and assigned responsibilities. Hours are largely self-generated through outreach, relationship-building, training development, and participation in community events. Trainers who exceed minimum performance standards may have opportunities for additional hours through trainings, outreach activities, special events, conferences, and other program initiatives. Trainers are expected to take an active role in identifying and creating opportunities that advance the mission and goals of the Naloxone Hub. Core Responsibilities Training and Education Facilitate overdose prevention trainings using approved curriculum and materials. Conduct trainings in both virtual and in-person settings. Actively identify, develop, and secure new training opportunities within assigned communities and counties. Assist with special training initiatives, conferences, educational events, and community presentations. Represent Communities for Recovery and the Naloxone Hub professionally at all trainings and public engagements. Maintain proficiency in approved training content and program messaging. Outreach and Community Engagement Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, healthcare providers, treatment programs, businesses, local governments, first responders, and other stakeholders. Conduct outreach through in-person visits, networking events, community meetings, resource fairs, tabling opportunities, phone calls, emails, and follow-up communications. Research and identify opportunities to expand naloxone education, distribution, and community partnerships throughout the service region. Serve as a professional representative of Communities for Recovery and the Naloxone Hub within the community. Distribution and Program Support Support naloxone distribution efforts in accordance with program policies and procedures. Complete required chain of custody documentation and other distribution-related records. Assist with event preparation, outreach materials, inventory management, and other operational activities as needed. Participate in special projects, campaigns, and initiatives that support program goals. Documentation and Administrative Responsibilities Maintain accurate and timely documentation of outreach activities, trainings, distributions, community engagement efforts, and other assigned duties. Complete required reports, calendars, chain of custody forms, training records, and other program documentation within established timelines. Maintain communication with supervisors regarding schedules, activities, opportunities, barriers, and program needs. Utilize required systems, technology, and reporting tools to document work performed. Minimum Performance Standards To remain active and in good standing, trainers are expected to meet the following minimum monthly performance standards: Training Requirements Facilitate a minimum of four (4) trainings per month. Average of one (1) training per week. Trainings may be assigned by program leadership; however, trainers are also expected to actively generate and secure training opportunities through outreach and relationship-building efforts. Outreach Requirements In-Person Outreach Conduct a minimum of one (1) in-person outreach activity per week. Minimum of four (4) in-person outreach activities per month. This is a scheduled position, with assignments scheduled according to operational requirements. Examples include: Community partner visits Resource fairs Networking events Community meetings Tabling events Site visits Outreach presentations Coalition meetings Outreach Calls, Emails, and Follow-Up Activities Conduct a minimum of one (1) dedicated outreach day per week focused on outreach calls, emails, follow-up communication, research, and relationship development. Minimum monthly expectations: Four (4) outreach days Twelve (12) documented outreach hours Forty (40) documented outreach contacts/connections Examples include: Cold calls Follow-up calls Outreach emails Scheduling meetings Researching prospective partners Relationship-building communications Training recruitment efforts Travel Requirements The Naloxone Hub serves a large multi-county region, and travel is an essential function of this position. Trainers must be willing and able to: Travel regularly throughout assigned counties and communities. Conduct outreach and trainings in both urban and rural areas. Drive significant distances as required to support program goals. Attend events, meetings, trainings, and outreach activities throughout the service region. Occasionally participate in overnight travel when required by program activities. Work extended days when attending conferences, resource fairs, community events, outreach trips, or large-scale training initiatives. A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel independently are required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Public Speaking and Presentation Skills Ability to confidently facilitate trainings and presentations for groups of varying sizes. Comfortable speaking to diverse audiences in professional and community settings. Ability to effectively communicate educational content and respond to participant questions. Outreach, Networking, and Relationship Development Confidence initiating conversations with new contacts and community partners. Ability to build and maintain professional relationships. Ability to conduct outreach calls, emails, and in-person visits professionally and effectively. Strong networking and community engagement skills. Self-Management and Initiative Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize responsibilities. Ability to identify opportunities and take initiative to expand program reach and impact. Strong organizational skills and follow-through. Communication and Professionalism Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond to communications and requests in a timely manner. Ability to represent Communities for Recovery professionally in all settings. Ability to adapt to changing priorities, schedules, and community needs. Accountability Expectations Employees are expected to: Consistently meet minimum performance standards. Maintain accurate and timely documentation. Follow program policies, grant requirements, and supervisory direction. Communicate barriers, scheduling conflicts, and challenges proactively. Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and initiative. Accept assignments and responsibilities necessary to support program operations and community needs. Participate in required meetings, supervision, training, and program activities. Maintain regular communication with supervisors regarding work activities and progress. Conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on Communities for Recovery and the Naloxone Hub. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
