Duties

• Oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensuring adherence to state and federal pharmacy laws, including HIPAA and USP 797 standards for sterile compounding.
• Lead and manage pharmacy staff, including pharmacy technicians, fostering a collaborative team environment focused on excellent patient service.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medication reviews, immunizations, and medication administration counseling.
• Prepare and dispense medications accurately, including compounding sterile and non-sterile preparations while maintaining aseptic techniques.
• Manage inventory control, including procurement, stock rotation, and ensuring proper storage of pharmaceuticals.
• Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and healthcare policies through regular audits and staff training.
• Utilize Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, and other pharmacy software to document patient interactions and medication records efficiently.
• Provide clinical consultation on complex cases such as pain management, pediatrics, critical care, and LTC (Long-Term Care) settings.
• Educate patients on medication use, potential side effects, and health management strategies to promote optimal health outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all pharmacy activities in accordance with medical confidentiality policies.

Requirements

• Valid pharmacist license in the state of Texas with current registration in good standing.
• Proven experience practicing as a pharmacist in community or hospital settings; LTC or hospital experience highly preferred.
• Critical care experience or clinical pharmacy background is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, drug regulation, and medical terminology.
• Demonstrated ability to manage pharmacy teams effectively while fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
• Experience with pharmacy software systems such as PIS, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), or EHR systems.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as immunizations or IV infusion training are a plus.
• Familiarity with aseptic techniques for IV insertion and infusion therapies; USP 797 standards knowledge preferred.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Ability to handle inventory management efficiently while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in medication dispensing and documentation processes.
