Job Description: Career Coach Responsibilities: • Take lead in building out Career Pathway projects (career panels, college trips, career advisory board, college success labs) • Coordinate with workshop staff on new Career and Employment readiness workshops • Point person for post-secondary education and/or vocational training resources in San Francisco • Develop and maintain relationships with high schools, GED services, Colleges, Vocational training and CTE programs in San Francisco BACR is an equal opportunity employer and encourages diversity. • Create curriculum for participants to receive information on in-demand and hidden career sectors • Represent BACR's Career Pathway team at workforce meetings in San Francisco • Ability to consistently meet deadlines and work with a sense of urgency • Develop and maintain communication and positive relationships with organizations, institutes, community partners, and employers • Complete evaluations, reports, and assessments as required • Provide program updates and progress reports • Track and meet deadlines for submission of reports and other documentations • Monitor and approve staff timesheets, if needed • Participate in all meetings, workshops, and activities organized by BACR and district agencies Academic support, College Access and Post-secondary Retention • Work with external service providers to ensure participants develop and maintain their educational plan • Provide college support for 1st year college students • Assist participants with the college application process • Support participant one-on-one to maximize financial aid, minimize loan debt, and make informed financial decisions about the best post-secondary option available • Empower participants with the knowledge and skills to face future obstacles and access the financial aid that enables them to complete their degree with limited debt • Monitor academic progress and counseling focused on progress reports and report cards • Support and guide on the college enrollment process; begin support with navigating the UC and CSU systems, along with FAFSA application process with each eligible participant • Model and teach effective problem solving, self-advocacy, academic mindset, self-regulation, persistence, and positive behavior to all participants on caseload Job Coaching, Career Advising and Job Development: 1. Utilizing work readiness assessments, create short term and long term Career Action Plans 2. Ensure participants are meeting Action Plan goals with respect to employment and education • Coach participants throughout their subsidized work site placements. Meet with participants in person monthly, depending on need, to formally monitor their progress at their work sites. Check in via phone call, text and email on a daily to weekly basis for informal monitoring • Troubleshoot work site issues with participants, support and empower them to resolve workplace conflicts, provide one on one training as needed • Utilize industry standards to advise participants toward careers of interest and of growth • Train worksite supervisors on best practices when supervising interns • Conduct industry-focused assessments of participants to gauge their readiness in various career pathways • Meet frequently with case managers to ensure collaborative case planning • Be available to participants who have completed active participation in the program to continue to assist in job coaching and advising, as needed • Connect with local employers to create internship and long-term job placement for participants • Attend weekly program meetings, monthly agency staff meetings, and individual weekly supervision with Manager of Career Pathways BACR is an equal opportunity employer and encourages diversity. Work-based Learning, Job Placement and Job Retention: • Manage data tracking system that captures career and educational pathways, job placement, business engagement and participant's success in meeting career/academic goals • Generate subsidized work sites: Recruit work sites, ensure sites provide work-based learning opportunities, create and execute work site agreements, and ensure work sites are complementary to participants' academic plans and classroom instruction • Work site support and retention: Provide initial and ongoing training to work sites to ensure participants are engaged in work-based learning; conduct regular work site minoring visits to ensure participants are gaining meaningful experience, on the job training and coaching from work site supervisors. • Responsible for generating and maintaining 200+ job opportunities in the public and private sector for participants exiting services • Build relationships with employers from across multiple industries, especially high growth sectors. Ensuring opportunities are in line with career/academic pathways Minimum Qualifications: • Ability to work full time (Mon-Fri, possible to work some evenings and rarely Saturdays) • Successful completion of Live Scan/fingerprinting (upon hire) • 3+ years' experience in the workforce field • 3+ years' experience working with multi barrier youth and/or adults ages 14-30 years old • 3+ years' experience with college counseling or college access support • Excellent organization and leadership skills • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Experience with the framework or practice of Youth Development • Familiar with the concept and practice of Restorative Justice • Familiar with Trauma Responsive approaches and practices • High level of personal accountability for the quality and impact of work • Ability to provide a consistent, professional, and positive relationship to the participants we serve • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and accuracy while adhering to deadlines • Familiarity working with undocumented transitional aged youth and adults in the Bay Area • Familiar with the criminal justice system and its impact on marginalized communities • Ability to problem-solve and identify priorities with a sense of urgency Desired Qualifications: • Bilingual in Spanish (speaking and writing) • High level of personal accountability for the quality and impact of work • Ability to provide a consistent, professional, and positive adult relationship to the participants we serve • Ability to assess crisis situations and initiate action independently and without direction • Familiarity working with undocumented transitional aged youth and adults in the Bay Area • Familiar with the criminal justice system and its impact on marginalized communities • Familiarity with restorative justice and trauma informed care, a plus • Exceptional oral and written communication skills • Ability to serve in diverse communities and as part of a team BACR is an equal opportunity employer and encourages diversity. • Knowledge of Bay Area communities and career resources • Ability to empathize with colleagues and individuals from a racial, ethnic, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic, academic and cultural diversity backgrounds
