Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher, supporting students’ growth and success in a welcoming K-12 school environment near Westbrook, ME. This contract opportunity calls for a dedicated educator passionate about guiding students with diverse learning needs. In this role, you’ll have the chance to make a real difference while working alongside like-minded professionals.
Ideal candidates hold relevant special education credentials and are familiar with instructional strategies tailored for students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. We may also seek someone with an elementary special education certification (282) prepared to help students develop positive behaviors alongside academic achievement.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Special Education Teacher
- Experience working with children with social, emotional, or behavioral needs
- (Preferred) Elementary Special Education certification (282)
- Strong ability to modify curriculum, create IEPs, and assess student progress
- Commitment to collaboration with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Excellent communication, patience, and behavioral management skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Employ creative, evidence-based teaching strategies for diverse learners
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in IEP meetings
- Collect data on student performance and adjust instruction as needed
- Maintain clear documentation and effective communication with families
