Job Description Composite Technician I (Autoclave) Full Time + Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k with Company Match, PTO) Job Type: Onsite Shift: 2nd Hours: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM, (Mon – Fri) Salary Range: $19.50 – $25.00, DOE Shift Differential: 10% Location: Valencia, CA. Job Summary The Composite Technician I is responsible for executing the composite layup process, including bonding, trimming, curing, and inspection on products for direct sale or integration into larger assemblies. This role focuses on producing high-quality products safely, efficiently, and on schedule while meeting both internal and external customer requirements. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to identify quality issues, and flexibility to support multiple functions through cross-training. Under close supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to: Assembly of components and material accurately and efficiently according to blueprint drawings, work instructions, and specifications. Perform visual inspection on incoming products for contamination and defects and validation against Bill of Materials (BOM). Use of a variety of composite materials, including polyimides, sealants, fiberglass, metals, and related materials while adhering to procedures. Perform in-process and final inspection to ensure compliance with specifications, utilizing precision measuring tools. Remove defective materials and report any part, tooling, or equipment issues to supervision promptly. Document inspection results, prepare rejection tags, and report all nonconformances to Production Supervisor. Participate in continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and operational efficiency, both independently and as part of a team. Cross-train and rotate across multiple workstations to support production needs and efficiency. Communicate and collaborate effectively with Supervisors, Production Leads, and peers to support department goals. Follow all safety standards and procedures, including PPE requirements for a clean room environment. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area using safety standards and expectations Other duties as needed or assigned by supervisor. Required Skills Ability to deal with and solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret written materials such as technical reports, manuals, layup instructions, work instructions, and safety warnings. Ability to prepare clear and accurate documentation, including nonconformance reports, technical reports, and shift hand-offs. Ability to sort, inspect, and compare products for accuracy and quality. Strong attention to detail and have accountability of materials. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Inspect parts and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards. Ability to safely handle hazardous material and following procedures. Self-motivated with the ability to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. Proficiently in Microsoft Suite, data entry and document uploads. Previous blueprint reading and interpretation experience. Ability to use a variety of measuring equipment and hand tools, including calipers, micrometers, rulers, tape measurers, scissors, wrenches, screwdrivers, and knives. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Preferred Skills Previous experience in composite layup and cleanroom environments. Working knowledge of AS9100 quality standards and requirements. Quality inspection experience in manufacturing. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S practices. Strong problem-solving abilities. Previous experience performing composite layups, inspection and curing oven Education Requirements High School Degree or General Education Degree; or two (2) to three (3) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Two (2) + years of aerospace assembly experience. Blueprint reading certificate desired. Physical Requirements Frequent use of hands for handling small components and tools. Ability to perform similar operations and tasks for 6-8 hours. Ability to stand for 6 to 8 hours. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally Ability to perform visual inspection to perform close up inspection tasks for 4 to 6 hours.. Working Conditions Work performed indoors in environmentally controlled environments with temperatures ranging from 66°ree;F to 90°ree;F. Exposure to hazardous material. Required use of PPE including smocks, gloves, hairnets/full face covers, shoe covers, and safety‑toed footwear.
