Job Description: FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Schedule: Placement on the adjunct faculty salary schedule is based upon education and credited experience. Initial placement can range from $83.09 to $103.42 per hour (Salary Schedule AJ - Laboratory Rate). Knowledge of:
The employee or applicant possesses a degree(s) with similar content to those listed for the relevant discipline. The name of the degree is close to that specified on the Disciplines List but the degree either has a different title or area of expertise or the coursework is slightly different. Equivalence is established through analysis of transcripts and coursework. b) Academic Background Equivalence
Related to disciplines in which a Master's degree is not generally expected or available. The employee or applicant must have completed at least 24 semester units (or equivalent) of coursework in the academic field being applied for, and must possess at least the equivalent level of achievement and the equivalent in breadth, depth of understanding, and rigor in each of the following: i. a broad cultural education usually met by the general education requirements for any Bachelor's or Associate's degree, and ii. a detailed study of the discipline in breadth, depth, and rigor, usually met by coursework required for the degree major. c) Professional Achievement Equivalence
The employee or applicant must have completed the general education requirements for any Bachelor's or Associate's degree, and show evidence of outstanding professional achievement and/or substantial training in the requested field. The employee or applicant must submit substantial evidence, which demonstrates that their preparation, teaching experience, work experience, and ability are equivalent to those expected from a person who meets the minimum qualifications.

- Implement the Learning Disabilities Program, consistent with the mission of the California Community Colleges and in coordination with the Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS).
- Provide assessment and verification of learning disabilities with assessment procedures described in the Guideline for Identifying California Community College Students with Learning Disabilities.
- Write individualized education plans for students.
- Provide appropriate referrals and accommodations.
- Select appropriate materials.
- Train and direct the work of staff, including tutors who work with students with learning disabilities.
- Maintain accurate records for each student receiving services.
- Provide information and outreach to high schools and community agencies.
- Enhance the orientation program for students with learning disabilities.
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of other disabilities, including acquired brain injuries, psychological, and developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge and experience with assistive computer technology (both hardware and software) for students with learning disabilities.
- Two years' experience working with adult students with learning disabilities in the college setting.
- Experience administering and interpreting the current appropriate achievement and cognitive assessment instruments.
- The ability to understand the implications of behavior elicited by a specific disability.
- Ability to design and implement intervention strategies and academic accommodation strategies.
- Experience teaching and/or advising at the high school or college level.
- Possession of a Master's or above in learning disabilities, special education, education, psychology, speech language pathology, communication disorders, educational or school psychology, counseling, or rehabilitation counseling AND 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of learning disabilities, to include, adult cognitive and achievement assessment OR the equivalent (see below)
- Completion of the California Community College Learning Disability Eligibility Model Training
- Demonstrated experience or training in the administration and interpretation of standardized diagnostic instruments as indicated in the Learning Disabilities Eligibility Model
- Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice both within and outside of the classroom.

- Submit official transcripts (applies to all faculty or educational administrative positions). Foreign Education completed outside of the United States must be deemed equivalent to that gained in conventional/accredited U.S. education programs in order for it to be considered for the satisfaction of minimum qualifications. Foreign transcripts must be translated and evaluated by a U.S.-based credentials evaluation service. The District currently accepts evaluations from agencies approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Please note that the California Education Code requires, in part, that community college districts shall not employ or retain in employment persons in public school service who have been convicted of certain felonies, a misdemeanor drug charge (including alcohol offenses) or misdemeanor moral turpitude (sexual offense) crime. However, consideration may be given to those whose drug convictions occurred more than five years ago. A conviction for other crimes may not necessarily disqualify you from the job for which you may be applying.
