Job Information Job Number: 2026WH26883 Department: DNRP-Natural Resources & Parks Division: WLRD – Water & Land Resources Location: Seattle, WA Salary: $97,777.26 – $123,938.05 annually Job Type: Career Service (Exec) Summary The Noxious Weeds Section of the Water and Land Resources Division seeks a County Lands and Regional Specialist Supervisor (Noxious Weed Control Specialist III) to reduce the impacts of noxious weeds throughout King County via collaborative and innovative approaches on a landscape scale. The Supervisor will lead a team of specialists, educate and provide technical assistance to landowners, and monitor infestations on county lands. Responsibilities Supervise, manage, train, and maintain vacancies for a team of eight noxious weed specialists. Provide technical assistance on Integrated Pest Management to county lands managers across all departments. Support the Noxious Weed leadership team with planning, budgeting, hiring, and management work. Conduct field surveys to identify, document, and map noxious weed infestations on county lands. Maintain data in program databases. Manage fleet vehicles. Coordinate biocontrol efforts with Washington State University Extension. Assist with training coordination. Manage regional weed survey data. Qualifications Proven ability to manage, train, and support a team of professionals. Expert knowledge of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for noxious weeds. Demonstrated ability to perform fieldwork and weed control activities in challenging terrain, including urban areas, wetlands, rivers, streams, and lakes. Extensive experience effectively communicating with the public on difficult, sensitive, and technical issues, both verbally and in writing. Familiarity and competency in collecting and managing spatial and tabular data for vegetation management projects, especially as it relates to ERSI software. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to perform extensive field work in occasionally difficult conditions, including walking on uneven terrain, through mucky or densely forested sites, working in and around streams, rivers, and wetlands, carrying up to 45 lbs. of field equipment. Long hours (10+ hour days) are sometimes needed for field work. Fieldwork may involve working in remote locations and during inclement weather. Supplemental Information Onsite Work Details: The Noxious Weed Control Program Team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office, field, and telecommuting. The primary onsite location is King Street Center, 201 S. Jackson St., Seattle, WA. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite. Work Schedule: Full-time position, 40 hours per week. Non-exempt, FLSA covered, overtime eligible. Workplace Exposures: Field work and weed control activities in challenging terrain including wetlands, rivers, streams, and lakes; use of herbicides. Necessary Special Requirements: Valid Washington State driver's license or ability to obtain one prior to starting work. Hold or obtain a WSDA Pesticide Applicator's License with Aquatic Endorsement within 30 days of hire. Successful pre-employment physical exam.
