Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a freestanding ED (FSED) in Austin, TX, requiring TNCC, ENPC, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

• Work setting is a Freestanding Emergency Department (FSED) with 32+ beds in Austin, TX
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM with rotating weekends (4 shifts per schedule)
• Patient ratio is 4:1
• No on-call requirements
• EMR system is Meditech
• Typical procedures include lumbar puncture (LP), intubations, TNK, laceration repair, suture removal, and splinting
• Staffing on night shift includes 1 CNC, 6 RNs, 1 Medic, and 1 PCT
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, TNCC (must have by start date), ENPC (must have by start date), NIHSS, and CPI (or an approved equivalent such as SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA)
• AHA or ARC certifications accepted; no certifications may expire within the first 30 days of the start date
• Minimum 1 year of recent ED experience required; 2+ years preferred
• US SSN and date of birth (DOB) required for consideration; Canadian SSNs are not accepted
• At least one professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Navy blue scrubs required; navy blue zip-up sweaters are permitted; pull-over sweatshirts are not acceptable
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• The ideal candidate is a strong team player who anticipates the needs of both patients and the department
