Job Description TL;DR Seeking high quality fully licensed (Oklahoma) mental health professional to perform primarily individual therapy for clients with trauma. Job Summary The licensed Mental Health Counselor/Therapist (“Therapist”) will offer mental health and psychotherapy services (“Services”) to the community with a focus on trauma recovery. Services may include evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illness and other psychological issues. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Duties / Responsibilities Provides counseling and psychotherapy services to clients/patients for the treatment of mental health issues related to trauma recovery. Gathers and analyzes information necessary for the treatment of clients/patients. Identifies problematic behavioral, communication, and relationship patterns. Assists clients/patients with replacing unhealthy or dysfunctional behaviors with healthy choices. Assists clients/patients in developing new or strengthened communication skills and methods. Diagnoses and applies appropriate treatments for psychological disorders. Identifies and provides appropriate psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and/or the entire family. Counsels clients, individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes. Collaborates with clients to develop post‑treatment activity plans. Refers clients to specialists for further treatment as appropriate. Develops and maintains accurate records regarding case progress, evaluations, and any further treatment recommendations. Drafts and submits necessary paperwork to insurance companies. Maintains compliance with ethical codes and standards. Performs other related duties as assigned. Maintains confidentiality of records relating to the treatment of clients/patients. Guides clients/patients in the development of skills and strategies to deal with their problems, encouraging them to express their feelings, discuss what is happening in their lives, and develop insight into themselves and their relationships. Collects information about clients/patients through interviews, observations, and tests. Prepares and maintains treatment records and reports. Evaluates clients’ physical or mental condition based on review of client information. Develops and implements treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge. Acts as a client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations. Complies with all applicable federal and state laws related to providing Services to clients/patients. Complies with all applicable ethical rules and licensing requirements and maintains license in good standing. Required Skills / Abilities Superior verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills required to manage complex, deadline‑driven paperwork including billing and insurance claims. Excellent time management skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, including scheduling and practice‑management software. Thorough understanding of applicable ethical codes and standards. Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance. Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Ability to prioritize tasks. High ethical standards. Ability to maintain and comply with all licensing requirements and obligations. Ability to comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations related to the provision of psychotherapy services, including confidentiality, treatment, billing, and client/patient records. Education and Experience Fully licensed by the State of Oklahoma (without restriction) and in good standing as a Licensed Professional Counselor (“LPC”), a Licensed Counseling and Social Worker (“LCSW”), or a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (“LMFT”). Experienced in working with diverse populations and with trauma survivors. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting, listening, and observing or sitting and/or standing at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
