Campus Security and Welcome Desk Associate

Charlotte Latin School is actively seeking a dedicated Campus Security and Welcome Desk Associate to join our team starting in Summer 2026. As the first point of contact, this role is essential in creating a welcoming environment, ensuring security protocols are followed, and managing all visitor flow and inquiries. Key responsibilities include greeting, welcoming, and directing visitors; notifying personnel of arrivals; and maintaining the security and telecommunications systems. Reporting to the Director of Security, this position is crucial in supporting the School's overall safety mission with specific duties detailed below. This is a full-time, 12-month position with regular hours Monday through Friday, 7:00 am 3:30 pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Welcome and direct visitors in a warm and friendly manner
• Serve as the first line of safety observation and reporting for the school-wide campus
• Answer and direct phone calls in a polite and friendly manner
• Keep detailed and accurate records of visitor requests and calls received
• Maintain the reception area and all common areas in a clean and tidy manner at all times
• Redirect mail, packages, and items that need to go to division offices
• Operate standard office equipment on a regular basis, including a fax machine, a copy machine, and a computer
• Utilize the PA to make all School announcements as needed
• Monitor the cameras to ensure campus safety. Report any instances to the Director of Security
• Maintain constant communication via the Radio with the Safety and Security team
• Share workspace with the Night and Weekend Security staff

Qualifications

Skills and Experience:

• Previous receptionist and/or safety and security work preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including competency in English grammar
• Proficient in answering phones and working on a Mac computer
• Proficient in Google Suite
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to work as a member of a team
• Confident in quick and independent decision-making
• Ability and willingness to follow the school policies and procedures
• Willing to take basic security training

Working Conditions and Environment:

• Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds
• Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity
• Frequently talk and hear
• Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
• Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold
• Outdoor work in hot and cold temperatures
• Long or odd hours, as needed
