Position: Full-Time Custodial Technician / Janitor



Location: Christiansted National Historic Site, Christiansted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands



Schedule: Monday Friday, 7:00 AM 4:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch break

GD Resources is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodial Technician to provide daily cleaning and grounds-maintenance services at the Christiansted National Historic Site (CHRI) . The position supports multiple historic buildings, visitor areas, offices, restrooms, exterior grounds, and David Hamilton Jackson Park. Because the work is performed within historically significant National Park Service facilities, the employee must exercise special care to protect historic surfaces and architectural features.

• Perform daily custodial cleaning of visitor areas, offices, exhibit spaces, historic rooms, stairways, balconies, entryways, and other assigned areas.
• Sweep, damp mop, wipe, dust, and clean desks, tables, countertops, bookshelves, printers, monitors, keyboards, and other surfaces.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, partitions, high-touch surfaces, baseboards, and surrounding areas.
• Inspect and service restrooms multiple times during the workday, including morning, midday, and approximately 2:30 PM, with additional checks during periods of high visitation.
• Ensure restrooms remain stocked with soap, toilet paper, seat covers, and paper towels.
• Collect interior and exterior trash, replace liners, and stage tied trash bags at the designated collection area.
• Perform litter pickup throughout exterior grounds.
• Sweep or blow walkways, entrances, concrete/stone areas, and visitor circulation areas.
• Remove small fallen branches and wind-blown debris.
• Maintain areas beneath benches and around the monument area of David Hamilton Jackson Park in a clean, visitor-ready condition.
• Use cleaning methods and environmentally friendly products that will not damage historic masonry, limewash, woodwork, or other historic features.
• Do not use abrasive tools, harsh chemicals, or pressure washing unless specifically authorized.
• Follow instructions from the National Park Service Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), who may adjust daily priorities based on visitor levels or operational needs.
• Maintain accurate daily arrival and departure time records.
• Carry a company-provided phone or communication device while on duty.

The employee may be assigned throughout the Christiansted National Historic Site, including Fort Christiansvaern, Scale House, Danish Customs House, Guinea Company Warehouse courtyard, ADA restroom trailer, Steeple Building grounds, Fee Booth, historic latrine areas, and David Hamilton Jackson Park .

• Previous janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Reliable and able to report to work no later than 7:00 AM each scheduled workday .
• Ability to work independently and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining clean, safe, visitor-ready facilities.
• Ability to safely perform routine custodial and light grounds-cleaning duties.
• Must wear appropriate closed-toe footwear such as boots or tennis shoes while working.
• Must properly use required PPE.
• Must exercise discretion in secured government areas and never move government documents, evidence, or official materials .
• Professional conduct is required while interacting with National Park Service personnel and visitors.
• Smoking and vaping are prohibited inside government structures and in view of visitors.
