Certified Surgical Tech - Surgery - FT Weekend Program at Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services Base pay range: $25.00/hr - $35.00/hr General Summary A Surgical Technologist provides skilled, technical care to patients during surgical procedures and participates in an on‑call shift rotation as agreed with the Director of Surgery. Principle Duties And Responsibilities Prepares rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment necessary for each individual surgical procedure. Demonstrates good motor coordination required for rapid and accurate movements in response to visual and audio stimuli in the operative field. Reviews patient charges from each operative procedure for accuracy. Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patient rights as identified by the Patient Bill of Rights. Functions with awareness and application of safety issues and actively participates in the time‑out procedure. Remains alert during procedures and handles unexpected situations with calm efficiency; anticipates situations and functions with proactive awareness. Performs any or all surgical technology duties outlined in the Performance Standards and Self‑Assessment Orientation Tool. Maintains self‑responsibility and accountability for own practice. Participates actively in staff development activities for the unit. Engages in self‑directed learning and continuing education to meet personal development. Consults other staff members when in question or unfamiliar with equipment or a procedure; utilizes appropriate staff resources. Observes legal responsibilities and performs accurate operating room counts; reports discrepancies immediately. Communicates effectively using lines of authority appropriately. Establishes effective working relationships with all health‑care team members, patients, family, and hospital staff. Remains flexible in staffing patterns and resolves staffing conflicts; adjusts schedule as needed for increased surgical schedule, staffing reduction, early cases, or special inspection. Adheres to unit call requirements, including 30‑minute response time, call rotation, and call guidelines during after‑hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
