FIB Technician

About the Role Process Technician helps prepare wafers for experimentation, operates reactors for thin‑film processes, and uses scanning electron microscopes for analysis and imaging. You record process conditions, perform routine maintenance, and evaluate wafers and thin films to support manufacturing productivity and quality. Location & Salary Santa Clara, CA. Salary: $29.00–$39.60 per hour. Key Responsibilities Prepare samples for experiments, including coating, wafer cleaving, mounting/unmounting, and job setup. Prepare TEM lamella samples using focused ion beam (FIB) and identify cutting locations. Operate metrology tools in the FIB & TEM lab, understand critical dimensions, and optimize conditions. Understand SEM, FIB, and TEM principles; perform routine maintenance such as flash, plasma cleaning, and calibrations. Troubleshoot tool issues, coordinate repairs, and maintain lab throughput. Interface with requestors and engineering, communicate results, and monitor job queue. Document lessons learned to reduce redo rate; uphold lab protocols and SOPs. Operate supportive metrology equipment, monitor data and performance. Use Microsoft Office and Outlook as needed; follow safety protocols. Work days 5:00 AM–3:30 PM, Monday–Friday; may include compressed work weeks. Lift up to 30 lbs. Essential Knowledge Proficiency in analytical processes and procedures. Good understanding of team integration to achieve objectives. Informal guidance to junior team members. Problem‑solving skills for atypical situations.
